Growing up, my first love was dance in all forms. I trained in a variety of styles throughout my youth, competed throughout middle and high school, and danced on my university’s collegiate team. I first got into yoga as a supplement to my training and form of recovery and mindfulness. I continued to practice consistently throughout my undergraduate and graduate school years as a way to calm my mind and ground myself during periods of stress. After graduation though, life got busy (as it tends to do), and I lost touch with my practice and love for movement. It was not until after the birth of my first daughter and a challenging year in my career that I recognized that I was missing that aspect of myself severely. I have always loved creative movement in all forms and wanted to share that love with others. I sought out teacher training programs around me and stumbled across Yonder Yoga’s summer intensive. I sampled a class before signing up for the training and was immediately hooked. The vinyasa style flow and creativity of the classes felt like beginning a second life for me as a former dancer. This practice and this community have brought me through some immense challenges in the past year and transformed me for the better. I hope to share that love of movement and mind-body connection with my students through my classes.
