In November of 2023, I decided to take my first hot yoga class. I had practiced vinyasa yoga in college at UNC Charlotte years prior on and off for about 4 years, but at this point in my life, it had been years since I had consistently done yoga, let alone hot yoga. I had some familiarity with the postures and poses but had absolutely NO idea what I was getting myself into. The feeling I had after leaving that class, besides the fact that I was sweatier than I’d ever been, felt like I had shed an old version of me and stepped into a newer, better, and brighter version of myself. I had never been so physically challenged in a way that made me want to keep coming back and cultivating that feeling of euphoria and bliss that accompanied the practice. It was the first time in a long while that I was able to tune out the world around me and completely immerse myself in the present moment. I had to tell everyone; my family, my friends, anyone who would listen really. Looking back on the experience and putting it into words sounds rather melodramatic, but truly from that point on, I knew I couldn’t go the rest of my life without practicing more hot vinyasa yoga. Those 60 minutes in November of 2023 marked a turning point I never saw coming—a moment that quietly set into motion changes that would redefine my life over the next couple of years. In my classes, you can expect all types of music because outside of teaching yoga, you’ll find me playing guitar and singing at many of the quaint bars, wine gardens, restaurants, and breweries that Charlotte has to offer. I hope that you’ll join me for your practice and that you find an inspiring safe space for self-love, reflection, and self-expression in my yoga classes here at Yonder Yoga. Much love, yogis <3
